Our Sunday
School meets the same time as church, Sunday mornings at 10:00 am.
Our Sunday
School is located next door to our church on Sixth Street and welcomes all children
and teens up to the age of 20. Visitors are always welcome.
Students
will find Sunday School an informal, lively, inspirational place to learn to know
and love God. It is a place to apply His loving, healing laws into their own
experience through the study of the Scriptures including the
Ten Commandments, the Sermon on the
Mount, and the Lord’s Prayer.
Young
students are taught many Bible stories and learn of each story’s deeper meaning
and spiritual significance. They also learn about the wonderful nature of God
and the synonyms of God (Principle, Mind, Soul, Spirit, Life, Truth, and Love).
Even the youngest of students can learn how to pray effectively.
Older
students later learn to more thoroughly study the Biblein harmony
with Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary
Baker Eddy. (These two books are our foundation for learning how to apply and demonstrate
Christian Science.) Many times, older students will study the current lesson
based on the weekly Bible Lesson-Sermon.
The Sunday
School Service
The
service begins with students and teachers singing a hymn which is then followed
by a few moments of silent prayer and then the audible repetition of the Lord’s
Prayer. Individual classes are then organized into small groups, according to
age. Each class is then taught by a well-qualified, loving teacher who provides
spiritual guidance and encourages individual participation. At the end of the
hour, all students again come together and conclude the service with a final
hymn.
(On the
first Sunday of each month, the Sunday
School students and their teachers proceed into the church auditorium and join
the entire congregation in the conclusion of the service with a final hymn, the
Scientific Statement of Being and readings from I John.)
The Sunday
School Nursery
Our
bright, cheery nursery is available for young ones not yet ready for Sunday
School. It is lovingly staffed by members experienced in caring for small
children and infants. The nursery has two cribs, a diaper-changing area, and
abundant toys and activities to keep youngsters busy and entertained while
parents attend church services.
